AN INTRODUCTION TO META-HEALTH COACHING
META-Health Coaching is a Coaching approach that will enable you to identify and achieve your goals in any area of your life. This can be on the physical level, it can be about family or personal relationships, it can be about business and also about your spiritual journey. COACHING helps to identify what your goals are, and to enable you to get to them. It is about HEALTH, because it is finding wellbeing within yourself in every area of your life, and it is META because with the knowledge from META-Medicine, META-Kinetics and EFT, we go beyond conventional approaches and go deeper within ourselves.
With META-Health Coaching we uncover the patterns that are not allowing us to reach our full potential, causing unhappiness, physical and mental/emotional health issues.
This approach offers many benefits for the person, as there is ongoing support, open and trusting relationship with the Coach, which makes space for a positive and safe environment to uncover the issues, leading to deeper diagnosis, gaining of understanding and personal evolution. It is also Transformational in the sense that it reveals the barriers that don’t allow us to reach our goals, and with therapeutic interventions it collapses limiting beliefs that keep the person stuck. With this new type of Life Coaching the person gains responsibility for his/her own health and wellbeing; this is very important and empowering as a main aspect of META-Health Coaching is to bring the person to a mental/physical/emotional condition where he/she is the creators of own life choices.
One of the benefits of coaching is the ongoing nature of the relationship: there is regular communication throughout the relationship (usually 3-12 months); this enables the development of openness, trust, accountability & integrity. It’s important that client realizes at the start that this is not a ‘quick fix’, it’s a course-change for life. Only with ongoing support are most people going to overcome long-term, chronic or deeply-rooted health issues. With this approach we help people achieve their full potential and recognize and address the whole person in all his/her dimensions.
In this process, META-Medicine diagnosis is the first step to resolving an issue as it gives the understanding and awareness of what is happening. Sometimes this awareness is enough to enable the client to make the necessary shifts, but most times transformational work and planning is required.
One of the major focuses of this work is to help the client achieve his/her goals. This will bring to decision-making and life changes in order to be more aligned with what that person wants, or IS. When I say IS, it means being able to BE our own true self, and from that space, which is a space of inner freedom, confidence, peace, we can then DO; this is health. A lot of people see this as the other way round: do, have, achieve, show, in order to be happy. I believe instead to find coherence, cleanliness within us, and according to that space, choose, or rather, be inspired, to act accordingly.
Being aligned and finding our own uniqueness will make our light shine and will bring us abundance. We have all been created as individuals, with our specific and unique gifts. What we can do, is get in contact with that knowing, and allow ourselves to express our potential and live our unique journey. In order to do this, we need to get clean from the conditionings which have been posed upon us, and let go of them. Conditioning comes mainly from family, culture, media, religion, school and is what creates our Limiting Beliefs. In general, Beliefs are thoughts or principles that we hold as true, often unconsciously and A Limiting Belief is a Belief that has a negative impact on the way we think about us, others and the world. Limiting Beliefs restrict our potential, block our inner peace and lead to negative emotions and health issues.
Do you ever find yourself having thoughts as the following:
- I am not good enough
- none loves me
- I am useless
- none forgives me
- I am hopeless
- I am worthless
- life is worthless
- I must be in control
- there is nothing I can do
- I am not able
- I am a bad person
- life is unfair
- the world is a dangerous place
Well, these are examples of Limiting Beliefs. We are often unaware of these thoughts, as it has been demonstrated that most of our beliefs sit in the unconscious mind, and just to make it more interesting, only 5% of our behavior is dictated by our rational mind, and the remaining 95% is guided by our hidden unconscious part. So, can you imagine what a power these Limiting Beliefs hold in our daily lives! An example, if someone is holding the Belief, that “I am not good enough”, and he needs to choose between quite a challenging job or something that everyone considers as an easy job, what might he choose? If a guy has the Belief that “it is dangerous to speak out”, what would happen when he needs to make a complain at work, or need to challenge an issue with his partner, or has to make a public speech?
How and when are these limiting belies formed in our lives? The age during which we are more susceptible to the formation of these Limiting Beliefs is from 0 to about 6/7 years old. This is because during these years our brains are in Delta and Theta state, which are known as the programmable states. In these states there is a loosening of ego boundaries, increased openness, sensitivity, internalization and subjectification of the physical and mental environment. Children in this age are characterized by heightened suggestibility, illogic and a fluid association of ideas. Kids are more receptive in this state to suggestion from outer environment than at other times, and readily incorporate external stimuli into trains of thought and subsequent dreams. Often these Limiting Beliefs are formed in the occasion of a specific traumatic event. For example, the person holding the Belief that he is not good enough could have experienced is dad telling him off and getting very upset with him because he failed a math test at school, or the teacher told him he was stupid, etc. The person who believes “it is dangerous to speak out” experienced being bullied at school for having said something different. In some cases, there might not be big traumatic event that generate Limiting Beliefs, but the person could have experienced just a collection, a repetition of small but continuous inputs that bit by bit built up and created a Limiting Belief. Imagine a child who is discovering the world and trying to do new things; of course they will not work out perfectly the very first time; think if his mum, would always correct what he does, giving him a lock of disapproval, a comment like “you are doing it wrong” and showing him what is “better”… He might start believing that whatever he does is not good enough, that someone else always does it better.
Limiting Beliefs have a massive influence in our lives, because we continuously look at them and they become our reality. We believe that we are not good enough, that it is dangerous to speak out, that others are better than us. We live according to these Beliefs and we attract corresponding life situations.
Often, these Truths that we created don’t allow us to reach our full potential, to achieve what we would like, and to fulfill our dreams. META-Health Coaching, alongside with EFT, META-Kinetics, transformational technique, helps to identify the Limiting Beliefs we hold, uncover and collapse them, transforming them into positive, empowering affirmations that will help us embody totally and happily who we are. This approach is tailored to each individual as we are all different, with our life experiences, and unique dreams.
